If you are interested in working and living in Hainan, chances are you have many questions. If that’s you, you’ve come to the right place! Upon the 6 month anniversary of the release of the Master Plan for the Construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port, HIMC has put together a list of the most asked questions by people from outside China according to the Hainan government service hotline ”12345”. ​Materials required to apply for a work residence permit:

1. Residence permit application form

2. A 2-inch photo with a white background and a barcode (taken at a photo studio authorized by the Entry & Exit Administration of the Public Security Bureau of Hainan Province)*

*In Haikou, you can get your photo taken at the Haikou Citizen Tourism Center at no charge.

3. Passport (including photocopies of the information page, current valid visa page and entry stamp for the last entry into China - we suggest at least two photocopies of each)

4. Photocopy of the employing company’s registration certificate with company seal

5. Company application to handle work residence permits for international staff (required for companies handling work residence permits for international staff for the first time)

6. Accommodation registration (must be obtained from the local police station overseeing the applicant’s current residence in Hainan)

7. Physical examination certificate (must be obtained from a health check facility authorized by the Entry & Exit Administration of the Public Security Bureau of Hainan Province)

8. For applicants who cannot apply for a work visa in time, a statement of the circumstances and a commitment to comply with Chinese laws and regulations with company seal must also be provided.

Haikou Citizen Tourism Center (Zhang Mao)

If you are in Haikou, you can apply for the work and residence permits in one place at the International Integrated Service Window of the Haikou Citizen Tourism Center. After you have successfully completed your work permit and residence permit applications, the documents can then be mailed directly to your designated address.
