The 2020 Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF) has released the film list for the festival's eight major screenings, attracting quite a bit of attention from movie buffs and media both in China and around the world.

The eight themed screenings are titled: "World Cinema", "China Vista", "Spotlight", "Cinema Regained", "Asian Spectrum", "Reality Matters", "Gala", and "Possibilities".

"At the end of this year, we will invite film makers and movie fans to enjoy a panoramic view of the global films this year. The films selected convey the concepts of humanistic concerns, equality, freedom, and more," said an official from the Organizing Committee of the 2020 HIIFF.

Some chosen films from all over the world have been reported on by international media. A Japanese movie website (movie.jorudan.co.jp) reported that the film "The Family", selected in the "Gala" section this year, has been picked by the HIIFF for two consecutive years. The selection of an Indian film, "The Bittersweet", was reported on an Indian website (Cinestaan.com).

The Guardian Nigeria News released the news that the Nigerian feature film "Eyimofe" (This Is My Desire) has been selected for this year's HIIFF, after a successful outing at the 35th Belfort Film Festival in France. Deadline Hollywood Daily focused on a retrospective of Charlie Chaplin’s five classic comedies to be screened at the HIIFF next month, namely "The Kid", "City Lights", "Modern Times", "The Great Dictator", and "Monsieur Verdoux".

Co-hosted by the China Media Group and the People's Government of Hainan Province, the 2020 Hainan Island International Film Festival will be held in Sanya from December 5^th to 12th. More than 200 films from 60 countries will be featured.
