At 4:30 AM on the morning of Nov. 24th, the heavy-lift Long March 5 rocket carrying the Chang’e 5 lunar probe blasted off from the Wenchang Space Launch Center. The Chang’e 5 mission is the 6th mission of the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program, and one the most complex, most difficult missions yet.

Jiang Jurong, a local photographer, captured this thrilling scene of the rocket launch. As a former army surveyor, Jiang fully understands the difficulties involved for China in successfully engineering the Chang’e 5 lunar exploration project. “As a Chinese citizen, I feel truly proud of this achievement,” said Jiang.
