On February 20, at the press conference of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council, Feng Luzhao, a researcher at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, answered some questions about the epidemic prevention.

Question 1: Can the virus stay on the hair? Is it necessary to wash your hair every time you back from outside?

Feng: In general, the public does not need to specifically wash their hair or disinfect after going home. Current researches show that the virus is more sensitive to ultraviolet rays and heat in the external environment. The droplets with high concentration and live virus is less likely to stick to the hair, so just keep your hair clean daily.

Question 2: Can the recycled subway tickets spread the virus?

Feng: At present, the main transmission routes of new coronary pneumonia are droplets and contact transmission. Wearing masks and maintaining hand hygiene are effective ways to prevent the spread of the virus.

Although the probability of virus infection through the recycled subway tickets is very low, in order to avoid possible contact, it is recommended to use a personal public transport card or mobile phone to pay, and wash your hands in time after taking subway and other transportation.

Question 3: Can the virus spread through clothes? Can alcohol be sprayed directly on clothes?

Feng: The chance of the virus infecting people by contaminating clothing is extremely low. If you have not been to a specific place, such as visiting a patient in a hospital or having close contact with those with suspicious symptoms, you do not need to specifically disinfect your clothes.

In addition, alcohol has no corrosive effect on ordinary clothing, but alcohol is a class A flammable item. If sprayed on clothing, it may catch fire when exposed to open flames, high temperatures or static electricity. It is not recommended to spray alcohol on clothing.
