The 10th Hainan Danzhou International Marathon ended

At 7:30 on December 22nd, the 10th Hainan Danzhou International Marathon started at the local Cultural Square. This event attracted about 18,000 professional marathon runners and marathon enthusiasts from more than 20 countries including Ethiopia, Kenya, Greece, the United States, Thailand, and Australia, as well as 15 provinces and cities of China such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Hubei, Shandong, and Zhejiang.

There were three competitions in this event, namely the full marathon (42.195 km), the half marathon (21.0975 km), and the mini health run (about 5 km).

The leaders and representatives attending the launching ceremony were Yuan Guangping, Secretary of the Danzhou Municipal Party Committee, Stergios Tsirkas, Mayor of Marathon of the Greek Republic, member of the Organizing Committee of the Athens Marathon of the Republic of Greece, Dimitris Kyriakides, the official representative of the Athens Marathon in China, Wang Keqiang, Director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, Xie Xiongfeng, chairman of Danzhou CPPCC, Panagiotis Antonakakis, member of the board of directors of the Greek Republic Track and Field Federation, as well as Mai Youwang, director of the Mass Sports Office of Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports, Wen Long, member of the Standing Committee of Danzhou Municipal Committee and Minister of Publicity Department, Xiao Faxuan, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Secretary-General of the Municipal Committee, Deputy Mayor Liu Chong and Mayor Assistant Liu Dengge.

After more than two hours of fierce competition, Kenyan player Kemboi Ezekiel won the men's championship. Ethiopian player Tsega Firew Bazie and Kenyan player Keiyo Samson Kipchirchir won the men's second and third places respectively.

Ethiopia's Meskerem Tesfaye Fikadu won the women's full championship, and Chinese players Niu Lihua and Li Shuyun won the women's second and third places respectively.

Since its establishment in 2010, the Hainan Danzhou International Marathon has continuously pursued innovation and breakthroughs, which was awarded the Silver and Gold Events by the China Athletic Association in 2015 and 2018.

The 10th Hainan Danzhou International Marathon in 2019 is sponsored by Chinese Athletic Association, the Department of Tourism and Culture Radio and Television Sports of Hainan Province and Danzhou Municipal People's Government, and organized by the Bureau of Tourism and Culture Radio, Television and Sports of Danzhou City, and Baishi Interactive Sports (Beijing) Co., Ltd..
