Hainan trade mission reaped achievements at the 2nd CIIE

The last day of the second - China International Import Expo (CIIE) ended in Shanghai on November 10th. Hainan's trade mission actively participated in the Expo and had a series of achievements including display promotion, docking procurement, and investment cooperation.

The CIIE is the first national expo that focused on imports around the world. On such a large scale of exchanges and cooperation, Hainan appeared in many places and the Hainan Free Trade Port became quite popular, paving the way to the promotion and the construction of the Hainan Pilot Free Trade Zone and the Free Trade Port with Chinese characteristics.

"The Chinese President Xi Jinping stated in his keynote speech that China will fast track the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port with Chinese characteristics. I believe the tremendous development opportunities of Hainan will attract more and more foreign investments into Hainan," said Alastair Syminton, CEO of Blackmores, "we are all looking forward to the cooperation with Hainan."

There are a few Hainan attractions displayed in the Chinese Exhibition, attracting a lot of attention. The visitors can appreciate the view of Sansha, learn about the construction of the Hainan Pilot Free Trade Zone and the Free Trade Port with Chinese characteristics, also take "Deep Sea Warrior" a manned submarine model device to experience the fun of exploring the sea...

"Hainan is an open place. Thanks to the organizers of the Expo for giving us an opportunity to understand Hainan and look forward to deepening cooperation with Hainan in the future,” said Matthew Margulies, vice president of the US-China Trade National Committee.

Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone boasts about favourable policies, which will make it the most promising member among Hainan trade mission to sign the agreements with internationally well-known enterprises.

During the Expo, over 10 international pharmaceutical equipment enterprises such as B.Braun Group, Roche Pharmaceutical, Johnson & Johnson, Boston Scientific and Pfizer, successively signed the agreements on medical instrument procurement with the counterparts in the Boao Lengcheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone. The Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration also signed strategic agreements with several enterprises.
"Johnson & Johnson would like to conduct unique cooperation with Hainan," Jonathan Collard, the Vice President of Government Affairs & Policies in the Asia Pacific for Johnson & Johnson, said that the company will take advantages of the policies in the Lecheng Pilot Zone to facilitate the innovative development of Hainan.

"These agreements mean that some international pharmaceutical companies will bring the world's best medicines and equipment to the Pilot Zone, to serve and benefit the patients," said Gu Gang, head of the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration.

At the promotion conference, Hainan International Economic Development Board respectively signed the memorandum of cooperation with Blackmores and Saint Lucia Consulting Co., Ltd. The Sanya Municipal Government and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) signed a cooperation agreement on building the PwC University in Sanya.

Zhao Baiji, president of Asia-Pacific and Greater China of PwC indicated, "We will work with the Sanya Municipal Government to build the PwC University to promote the digital skills of talents to help companies, institutions and governments cope with more and more digital challenges, facilitating the regional development."

More enterprises from home and abroad share the belief that an open Hainan welcomes global companies to invest and start business there, with the development opportunities for future cooperation.
